My self-publishing experience so far (D2D and Amazon)
My motivation to keep writing on my recent stories again is growing.
It helped to check my D2D and Amazon (I know…) dashboards and see the numbers. I don’t know how much I have told here about my self-publishing experience, so I will sum it up a bit. Maybe that is interesting for some people here. (Sorry for not fact-checking everything more detailed, I don't want to.)
So, I started in February this year I think. I published my short story book and my short novel. In German first, then the translated versions in English. So we talk about 4 books here.
On Amazon (ok, I look that up) I had 385 (!) downloads, I made 13,78 €.
On D2D, which I started a bit later, I had like 80 downloads so far. Earnings: < 10 €.
(If anybody is interested in more specific details, ask away.)
Conclusion: Well, I don’t know. You could see these numbers in very different lights and I have no data to compare mine with. My subjective take: It's a lot of downloads. It didn’t make a lot of money considering the amount. (A lot of free downloads) But still: The number of downloads is surprising to me. And some people did buy them for money.
Conclusion of the conlcusion: Quite some people have found my books and were interested enough to get them (at least when they were free). That's pretty neat.
Seeing the numbers, it does make me feel something. It’s weird and surreal. People got my books.
It is indeed motivating.
If anybody else is also self-publishing, I would love to hear from you how your journey is going. Or if you know other blogs talking about it - please let me know! (Check the kiwi for my contacts)
